Autistic Adult Reports of Experiences in ABA
What's the study about?
The purpose of this study is to center the voices of autistic adults who received ABA, such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, to better understand their experience and desires for services. This study aims to demonstrate the impact that ABA have in a person’s life and offers insights on how ABA practitioners can better adapt to different needs and values of the autistic community. We hope to learn about the different perspectives of their lived experiences, preferences, and desires regarding ABA from direct feedback from autistic people.
Who can participate?
Participants must be over the age 18, located in the United States, diagnosed or self-identify with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), received at least six months of ABA in their lifetime, and have the ability to communicate (vocally or non vocally)
What will participants be doing?
Participants can expect to be interviewed over Zoom for approximately one hour about their experiences in ABA.
Why is this important?
Direct feedback from the autistic community will allow the field of ABA to better understand what practices we implement that work well and what practices we should improve upon to better serve and support the unique needs of our clients.
