Developing and Evaluating a Digital Training Package for Teaching Play Skills to Caregivers of Children with Autism

November 1, 2022 - December 31, 2022

The potential benefit of participating in this study is having your opinion heard to help develop tools for caregivers of children with autism. We want to learn about your experiences and what resources you would find helpful.

What are the goals of the study?

The purpose of this study is to learn about caregiver experiences and perceptions surrounding engaging in play with their child with autism, identify supports that may benefit caregivers in engaging in play with their child with autism, and assess the acceptability and feasibility of potential components of a digital training package. The results of this study will inform the development of resources for caregivers of young children with autism.

What will happen during the visit or online?

Participants will be asked to video chat (Zoom) with a researcher for approximately 30 min-1 hr. The researcher will ask questions about experiences playing with the child with autism and opinions on tools to help caregivers. Audio only will be recorded. Participants are free to not answer any questions or stop the interview at any time. Participants will receive a one-time $50 payment as a thank you for participating.

How will this help families?

The results of this study will help us develop tools for caregivers to help playtime with children with autism be easier and more fun!

Eligibility Criteria

Participants must be caregivers (parents, family members, nannies/au pairs) of a young child (7 years or younger) with autism. Participants must be able to speak and understand English.
