What's the study about?

We are conducting an interview-based study to better understand autistic teens’ experiences living with an autistic parent.

Who can participate?

Teens must be:

  • Must be 13 to 18 years old with a formal autism diagnosis
  • be living in Canada with at least one autistic parent,
  • be aware of their own and their parent’s autistic identity.

What will participants be doing?

Teens will participate in an online Zoom interview with a researcher (45-90 minutes). Accommodations will be available. Parents will also complete a brief 5-minute online demographic questionnaire.

Why is this important?

This study will amplify the voices of autistic teens and give us a better understanding of their lived experiences and the dynamics of families in which both the parent and child are autistic.
