What's the study about?

Faces play an important role in social communication. To interact successfully with others, children need to recognize and tell people’s faces apart. In this study, we are interested in how children with autism spectrum disorder perceive faces.

Who can participate?

For 4- to 8-year old children with autism spectrum disorder

What will participants be doing?

In this study, your child will see two faces on the screen. The top parts of the faces will either be the same or different. Your child will be asked to decide whether the top halves of the faces are the same or different. At the end, we will ask you to fill out some questionnaires about your child’s diagnosis.

Why is this important?

We hope to learn more about how face perception develops in kids with autism and how it supports children’s social understanding and communication.
