What's the study about?

Researchers at Seattle Children’s Center for Child Health, Behavior and Development are inviting children aged 20 to 27 months and a caregiver to help test a new tablet-based eye-tracking app. The purpose of this study is to develop an Eye-Tracking app based on our lab-based Eye Tracking tool for home use.

Who can participate?

Children aged 20-27 months and their caregivers.

What will participants be doing?

We are recruiting kids and their parents or caregiver to participate either remotely or at our lab in downtown Seattle for two 3–4 hour study visits, one when your child is around 24-months and another when they are around 36-months. Participants will be randomly assigned to either remote or in-lab sessions. Please be open to either option. At each visit, you and your child will use a tablet app for 30 minutes, viewing videos and pictures while their eye movements are tracked, and play with toys and look at pictures while study staff asks you questions. We will ask you to complete surveys about your child’s development. Assessment results will be shared, and all sessions will be video recorded.

Why is this important?

We hope that results from the study will help create new scientific tools for researchers to understand early development, as well as practical tools for educators, clinicians. and parents to use to better understand children they care for.
