OPT-In – Evaluating an Early Intervention Program for Children Waiting for an Autism Evaluation
What's the study about?
This study is for caregivers of young children (ages 16 to 48 months) who have taken action to join a waitlist or schedule an autism evaluation for their child. Eligible caregivers who enroll in this study will receive access to early support and guidance for their child’s development with a fully online caregiver training program. The program aims to teach strategies to support social, language, and other important skills of young children.
Who can participate?
Caregivers of young children (ages 16 to 48 months) who have taken action to join a waitlist or schedule an autism evaluation for their child.
What will participants be doing?
– Complete online trainings at your own pace, with the ability to choose topics that best address your child’s strengths and needs
– Meet with the study team online 3 times (1-2 hours each) across a 6-month period – at each meeting you will complete an interview and/or survey(s)
Why is this important?
Families using the intervention might see improvements related to their child’s goals. By being part of this study, you could help us learn more about interventions that might make things better for young children waiting for an autism evaluation in the future.
