ASF Announces Recipients of 2017 IMFAR Travel Grants
Five Autism Community Stakeholders to Attend the World’s Leading Autism Research Conference
(March 23, 2017 – New York, NY) – The Autism Science Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing innovative autism research, today announced the recipients of its 2017 IMFAR Travel Grants, which enable a group of autism stakeholders to attend the International Meeting for Autism Research (IMFAR), held in San Francisco from May 10-13. Awards of up to $1000 can be used to support reimbursement for registration fees, travel, accommodations, meals and other directly-related expenses, including childcare or special accommodations to enable individuals with autism to participate. Parents of children with autism, individuals with autism, siblings, special education teachers and students are among those eligible to apply.
The 2017 Autism Science Foundation IMFAR Travel Grant recipients are:
- Sierra Brown – Postdoctoral Fellow, Penn State Hershey Medical Center
- Karen Chenausky – Speech Language Pathologist, Harvard Medical School
- Scott Jackson – Sibling and Postdoctoral Fellow, Yale Child Study Center
- Georgina Perez Liz – Parent and Postdoctoral Fellow, Drexel University
- Priyanka Shah – Graduate Student, Boston University and Former ASF Intern
“Stakeholders play a unique and important role at IMFAR, which brings them together with the world’s leading autism researchers and clinicians to discuss how science can move us forward,” said Alison Singer, president of the Autism Science Foundation. “We are thrilled to help these important voices add their insights and opinions to the conversation at IMFAR.”
IMFAR, the annual scientific meeting of the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR), is convened each spring to promote, exchange and disseminate the latest scientific findings in autism research and to stimulate research progress in understanding the nature, causes, and treatments for autism spectrum disorders.
