BEAM (Brain Engagement, Attention, and Modeling)
What's the study about?
We are recruiting autistic adults for a study exploring how the brain’s visual system processes sensory information.
Who can participate?
- Autistic adults 18-30 yrs old
- Able to take part in MRI experiments (no metal in body)
- Normal or corrected to normal vision.
What will participants be doing?
Participants will complete a remote interview and questionnaires, and take part in around 6 sessions of computer, behavioral, EEG, and MRI experiments at the University of Washington Seattle campus. Participants will be compensated for their time, earning around $270. We can also send you images or 3D-printable files of your brain!
Why is this important?
We focus on the neural and computational mechanisms underlying perception and attention, with a particular emphasis on neurodiversity. Using state-of-the-art neuroimaging, computational models, and behavioral assessments, we explore the complex mechanisms that drive our interactions with the environment. Our research integrates a focus on autism and related neurodivergent conditions, aiming to promote understanding and acceptance of neurodiversity.
