Discrimination, Support and Well-being in South Africa
What's the study about?
The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between discrimination, support, and the well-being of autistic adults in South Africa.
More specifically, the aim is to identify the most prevalent areas of discrimination and ways in which support can be improved for the autistic community in South Africa, potentially to the betterment of their well-being.
Who can participate?
Autistic Adults (18+) who reside in South Africa.
What will participants be doing?
You will take an online survey about your personal experiences of discrimination, your support systems, and your well-being. It should take about 20 minutes to complete.
You also have the option to participate in an online interview of about 60-90 minutes, but this part is not obligatory.
Why is this important?
There is very minimal research on how autistic adults in South Africa experience discrimination and what their support systems look like. If we know which areas of discrimination are most prevalent and where support is lacking, we can address these matters with the potential of improving the well-being of autistic adults in South Africa.
